Gina Marie Santucci has shot for some of New York City’s busiest working photographers, including Tony Gale, who says Santucci is “very motivated and has a great attitude.” He also notes that he especially likes her food photography, which is what she works on in her personal time. After studying photography at schools in Boston and Florence, Italy, she moved to New York City and started taking forensic food photography. She treats her subjects, which include oranges, fish and pears dripped in syrup, like cadavers being dissected in a laboratory. The resulting images are deliciously gruesome. Recently, she’s branched out to making more traditional food photographs. Notable for their technical perfection are her close-ups of seafood being plunged into pools of water.
