Influential photographer and teacher Hilla Becher has died, according to media reports in her native Germany. She was 81. Along with her husband Bernd, who died in 2007, Hilla Becher popularized a typological approach to photographing industrial architecture, such as grain elevators, blast furnaces and water towers.
