Nadia Sablin Chronicles Her Elderly Aunts’ Lives in a Rural Russian Village

Nadia Sablin’s project photographing her aunts during their summers living on the family farm in a village in Northwestern Russia grew, in part, from the photographer’s nostalgia for her childhood experiences. 

Aunties: The Seven Summers of Alevtina and Ludmila is an 88-page photo book by Russian-born, Brooklyn-based photographer Nadia Sablin published by the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University and The Honickman Foundation.
