Object of Desire: Ballpod

JULY 07, 2014

By Dan Havlik

Miniature, mobile tripods have been all the rage in recent years, but the Ballpod could be the cutest one we’ve seen yet. About the size of an orange and weighing just 10.5 ounces, the Ballpod has a soft and malleable silicone shell that can be molded into a variety of shapes by hand like a stress ball. But there’s no stress to this little stabilizer, which is available in multiple, fun colors. Attach a camera to the tripod mount on top, plop the Ballpod down on whatever surface you’d like—a rough mountain ridge or a precarious rooftop ledge, for instance—and the pod can be pinched and manipulated to adhere to the spot. While the tiny Ballpod in its current incarnation is designed for smaller cameras, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine a bigger version that could support a DSLR.

Price: $35
