Lens Band

Object of Desire: Lens Band

Here’s a simple solution to a common photography problem. How many times have you been trekking around with your camera over your shoulder only to notice your zoom lens has inadvertently extended out from its own weight?

Yes, it’s the dreaded “lens creep,” and while it’s more of an annoyance than a major issue, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do something about it. That’s where Lens Band comes in.

The Lens Band is a sturdy, silicone rubber band that you pull over the zoom ring of your lens to hold it in place. To get it to work, you need to stretch a Lens Band over the zoom adjustment on your lens, and then angle it diagonally so your long zoom does not creep out when pointed down or fall back when pointed up.

Though it’s a pretty basic solution, there are some fun design touches to the Lens Band such as versions in 16 different colors including glow-in-the-dark-green, and one decorated with miniature Band-Aids.

And if you’ve thrown out all your Lance Armstrong Livestrong bracelets, you can wear a Lens Band around your wrist as a photography fashion statement.
