Object of Desire: TrekPak

TrekPak was initially a Kickstarter product, and, at the time of this writing, hadn't officially shipped but it's still receiving a lot of attention. The company raised $43,215 from 319 backers on Kickstarter and, for anyone who hates the Velcro-based padded inserts in photo backpacks, let’s hope TrekPak eventually becomes a real product.

Instead of Velcro, which can stick together at odd angles, and is messy, cluttered and not always very functional, TrekPak uses a system of anodized aluminum pins and padded dividers so you can customize the inside of you pack cleanly and logically. There’s also a version that works with a Pelican case.

Yeah, that’s pretty much all TrekPak is but why make it more complicated? As we’ve said about other smart Kickstarter products in the past, we’re surprised somebody didn’t think of it before.
