They're Back: Ilford Inkjet Media Is Coming Back to the U.S.

JULY 28, 2014

By Greg Scoblete

Fans of Ilford branded canvas and fine art papers have reason to celebrate. After a relatively brief bankruptcy-induced hiatus from the U.S. market, PDN has learned that the brand is coming back.

Chugai Photo Chemical Co. Ltd of Tokyo, Japan and C. R. Kennedy & Company Pty Ltd of Melbourne, Australia, owners of the Ilford brand and assets, are teaming with MAC Group to bring the Ilford Galerie line of inkjet media to the U.S. (MAC Group distributed Ilford media prior to its 2013 bankruptcy).

Precise U.S. product details will be announced shortly, but in the UK, the resurrected Ilford Galerie line (distributed exclusively by Tenacent) includes most of the brand's popular papers including Gold Fibre Silk, Smooth Pearl, Smooth Gloss and Gold Mono Silk, among others. In announcing the UK product line, Chugai Photo Chemical and C.R. Kennedy promised a worldwide relaunch of the storied Ilford brand. U.S. customers won't have to wait much longer.
