GoPro will release new firmware in February to deliver new capabilities to its Hero4 Black and Silver edition action cameras.

Both models will gain the ability to create automatic time-lapse videos plus a new burst mode that will capture 30 photos in six seconds. The new firmware will also automatically rotate an image if the camera is mounted upside down.

Additionally, the Hero4 Black will be able to record 720p video at up to 240 frames per second while 2.7K footage gets a frame rate boost to 60 fps.

The Hero4 Silver will get the ability to tag video on playback for use in the camera’s HiLight Tag feature, which helps users quickly assemble clips for use in a highlight reel.
