Phase One is planning to ship a novel new medium format camera back in August. The IQ3 100MP Achromatic uses a new 101-megapixel CMOS sensor design (53.4 x 40.1) without a Bayer color filter so it captures images exclusively in black-and-white.

It also delivers the highest sensitivity of any Phase back to date at ISO 51,200.

There’s no Infrared cut-off filter, enabling the new back to capture light outside the visible spectrum for IR photography. It’s also capable of capturing 15-stops of dynamic range.

The Achromatic back supports live live, an electronic shutter and up to 60 minute exposures. There’s Wi-Fi plus an HDMI output. The IQ3 Achromatic back is compatible with the XF camera system.

Additional features include:

  • 3.2-inch touch display
  • high-bandwidth interface
  • XF power sharing

The new IQ3 100MP Achromatic back will set you back a cool  $49,990. It can also be purchased in a kit with a lens of your choice and XF camera body for $54,990.
