THROUGH THE NEW YORK LENS: CANON BOUTIQUE OPENS AT WILLOUGHBY’S
New York, NY (December 9, 2011). The new Canon Boutique at Willoughby’s launched with a celebration hosted by Willoughby’s CEO Joseph Douek and quintessential New Yorkers Phillip Bloch (Cause Celebre) Alex McCord (Real Housewives of New York) and Pimm Fox (Bloomberg Radio). The “All Things New York” themed event was inspired by the panoramic New York City skyline diorama that is the focal point of the Canon display, which boasts a full array of it imaging products. In keeping with the theme, Willoughby’s also featured Kristina Korsholm’s book, NYC – Head Over High Heels and served kosher deli-inspired nibbles, Manhattans, Red Apple Martinis and more.
New York City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined the hosts and Canon executives such as Mark Hempel and Vince Romano in celebrating the opening which Douek characterized as a “homecoming for Canon whose first office outside Japan in 1955 was on Fifth Avenue just a few blocks up from Willoughby’s” — which itself has been in New York City since 1898 and is the oldest camera emporium in the city. Douek added “if you can make it here you can make it anywhere and Canon is proof of that… the permanent Canon display here at Willoughby’s pays tribute to its humble beginnings in NYC and its great achievements and success in the US since then”.
