New Bowens Gen-X Lights Won’t Slack Off

PhotoPlus Expo is just around the corner (seriously, register!) but Bowens is getting a jump on the action with the launch a new Generation X flash range

The new lineup will consist of the battery-powered XMT and the AC-powered XMS strobes and serves as a relaunch for the Bowens brand. They’ll be on display for the first time at the show and shipping later this fall.

The  500 W/s XMT offers TTL and high speed sync functionality (up to 1/8000s) for Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras. Power is adjustable over a 9-stop range in full or 1/3 stops with flash durations as short as 1/10,309 sec. Recycle times clock in between 0.01-2 sec.

The interchangeable lithium-ion battery is good for up to 500 full power flashes per charge–spares will cost $330. Additional features include: rear curtain sync; sync delay and strobe mode with a maximum 100 flashes per burst.

The XMT 500 will set you back $1,800.

The AC-powered XMS flash systems will be available in 500, 750 and 1000 W/s models and will be fully controllable via the XMSR 2.4 Ghz radio control and trigger (sold separately for $290).

They’ll feature Bowens’ ‘Sync Offset’ functionality for syncing at 1/8000s.
