The march of Moore’s Law-like exponential growth in flash storage has delivered another bounty: SanDisk has introduced a 512GB SDXC card.
The $800 Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card will deliver write speeds of 90MB/s and read speeds of 95MB/s. According to SanDisk, the card is “temperature proof, water proof, shock proof and x-ray proof.” It will ship with RescuePRO Deluxe data recovery software for when Murphy’s Law strikes.
The company has also launched the second generation in its CFast line. The new 128GB card offers write speed (in camera) of up to 440MB/s and transfer speeds reaching 515MB/s. The cards are aimed at digital cinema applications, particularly 4K recording.
The new CFast card will be available in October. Pricing wasn’t announced.
