PDN is pleased to present the winners of our World In Focus
travel photography contest, now in its fourth year. Once again, we
have teamed up with
National Geographic Traveler to bring
you a stunning gallery of the year’s most beautiful travel images.
This year we saw images that were striking—like Ivo Tavares’s
document of Correfoc (“fire run”) from Catalonia’s festive events
where “devils” play with fire and with people—as well as images
that were lighthearted, including Kevin Clifford’s portrait of a
horse wearing a comical mask and Martin Tomčík’s picture of a
little frog who appears to be protecting his home in a lake.
This contest is judged in five categories: Outdoor Scenes, Photo
Essay, Travel Portraits, Spontaneous Moments and Sense of Place.
The judges choices for Grand Prize and First Place in each category
are shown in the following gallery.
