Tim Klein's printed promo
While I often hear photographers express anxiety over sending
printed promotions to photo editors— most assume we prefer only
receiving emailed pieces—this is certainly not the case for myself
or other photo editors I know. Personally, I still prefer the
printed pieces that I can file away or hang on my office wall. Why?
Because they become a daily reminder of not only who created them
but also a chance to appreciate a variety of imagery that appeals
to my personal tastes.
After sifting through piles of promo cards on my desk, I selected
the work of the following eight photographers to showcase in the
photo gallery above.
Each promo stands out to me because of an obvious style and
aesthetic in the imagery, bold and sleek design, personal touches
—like a handwritten note— and something quirky or unique in
content. All eight photographers provide details on production
costs, along with feedback they received from members of their
target audience.
