The new owners of Vibe have named publishing veteran Jermaine Hall as editor-in-chief of the dormant hip-hop magazine and plan to resume publication in November.

Vibe Media Group abruptly shut down in June, blaming the poor economy and a decline in multicultural ad spending. Earlier this month Vibe and Vibe.com were acquired for an undisclosed price by InterMedia Partners, a private equity firm founded by Leo Hindery, Jr., former CEO of the YES Network, a regional sports channel.

InterMedia is combining Vibe with the operations of another urban lifestyle magazine it owns, Uptown, and partnering with Blackrock Digital to run Vibe.com. The new business is called the Vibe Lifestyle Network.

Hall's hire was announced Tuesday in a press release. Hall most recently worked as editor-in-chief of King Magazine, which folded earlier this year, and previously was music editor at The Source. Hall began his career as Webmaster for Vibe from 1997 to 1999.

Brett Wright, a co-founder of Uptown, has been named co-CEO and chief creative officer of the Vibe Lifestyle Network. Also leading the new venture are original Vibe team members Robert Miller and Leonard Burnett and Blackrock Digital partners Chris Smith and Parker McNaughton.

The first issue of the print Vibe will be dated November/December, and the company intends to publish Vibe quarterly in 2010. Vibe.com is set to relaunch later this month.
