Clay Hayner

When I wanted a fresh, young and hip take on photography for the michaeljohnsonperformance.com site, the only photographer I called was Clay Hayner. He is a true professional. He tackles his projects from the inside out. Really learning everything he can about the concept and then knocking it out of the park with his own vision. And, to top it off, he's the coolest, nicest guy you'll ever meet!

This particular project was all about branding the Michael Johnson Performance Center and getting top-notch athletes to train there. To be trained by the best, in order to be the best. And to do that, we used the concept of "The Future of Training Is Here". As you can see, creating photography that feels strong, futuristic, agile and edgy was no small challenge. But it was easy for Clay. He dove in head first and tackled the concept. We photographed several real MJPC athletes and staff members on the training floor doing what they do best. And of course, Michael Johnson himself. For Clay, that was definitely the highlight of the shoot. He was like a little kid again, talking to his idol.

As he always does, Clay absolutely went above and beyond on this project. He really knows how make that extra effort to work with people, making them feel comfortable and relaxed. Then, he's able to capture the right emotion, feeling and look at the exact right time he clicks the shutter.

In the end, Clay created spectacular imagery that Nike would drool over. Because he's been a photographer his whole life, it really shows each and every time we work together. I am seriously blown away by his talent and would recommend him to everyone I know.
