Many professional still photographers are being asked to shoot HD video by existing and potential clients these days. If you’re one of them, should you invest heavily in new HD SLRs, audio and video lighting systems, video editing and post-processing software, and specialized training in order to dazzle high-end clients with your video-production capabilities? A wiser decision would be to let the experts at Industrial Color help you turn your creative vision into reality by utilizing their advanced video capture and post production services, as well as their experience in all aspects of video production and delivery.

Founded in 2001, Industrial Color has been a pioneer in offering high-end digital still capture services to professional photographers, and continues to offer still photographers in New York City, Los Angeles and Miami access to a wide variety of pro camera systems and digital cameras backs from Phase One, Leaf, Sinar, Canon, Hasselblad, and Mamiya. In 2008, just prior to the HD SLR explosion, it established its motion division in order to provide RED camera and HD video support, video and sound editing expertise, and advanced post-production capabilities to both professional still photographers and video producers.

IC’s motion division offers a variety of motion capture packages that should appeal to photographers, agencies, and video producers who otherwise couldn’t afford the equipment or who want to optimize their time, efforts, and creative vision. According to IC’s President, Steve Kalalian “Our services allow photographers to become the director, freeing them from concerns ranging from equipment upkeep to mastering video editing software.” Packages can be customized to each project and options include camera and sound equipment, studio rentals, location transport and setup and experienced camera and sound operators. IC also maintains a fleet of 10 transport and equipment vans on location in all three cities. In addition to on site file storage, transfer, and archiving, IC can manage and transfer large video files—up to 100x faster than FTP—via is FileSociety service.

Industrial Color recently added new Motion Editing Suites to its New York location in Tribecca, giving photographers and video producers unparalleled access to advanced video post processing equipment and sound studios. Featured editing tools include Flame Premium software (a combination of Autodesk Flame, Smoke, and Lustre) for providing high end video retouching, color grading, and optimized file compression and formatting. Th studios also contain popular programs such as Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Studio, and Premiere 5.5. More sophisticated color grading can be handled by Da Vinci Resolve Color Correction platforms, while composition and special effects are handled by Nuke X hardware and software. There’s also a state-of-the-art sound booth in Suite 3 equipped with Neumann microphones, Pro Tools 9, Apogee Ensemble, and other equipment optimized for voice-overs and music recording. Last, but not least, all studios contain Eizo Monitors for incredibly accurate color reproduction.
