The Huffington Post recently featured New York-based photographer Fiona Gardner  for her project "Meet Miss Subways." Gardner worked alongside journalist Amy Zimmer to track down, interview and photograph forty "Miss Subway" pageant winners and where they are today. The Miss Subways contest ran from 1941-1976 and paid tribute to beautiful young female writers in each subway station with a photograph of the current winner next to a description of their accomplishments and life dreams. Gardner and Zimmer are in the process of assembling their work into a book and exhibition at the Transit Museum in Brooklyn, NY, and have a Kickstarter project up to fund the completion of the project. Check out their Kickstarter page for more information.
