Boston-based advertising and editorial portrait, lifestyle, fine art photographer Jared Leeds photographed two-time Pulitzer prize winner Anthony Lewis for the ABA Journal several months ago. Lewis wrote for The New York Times op-ed page and The New York Review of Books. Lewis authored Gideon's Trumpet, a non-fiction classic, which told the plaintiff's story in the landmark case Gideon vs. Wainwright, where state courts are required under the Fourteenth Amendment to provide counsel in criminal cases for defendants who are unable to afford to pay their own attorneys. Lewis passed away yesterday, March 25th.
Leeds continues to be busy with a variety of editorial, commercial and personal work. He also just taught a workshop to disadvantaged teens at Artists for Humanities in Boston in conjunction with Photo Nights Boston who did a Q&A with him. Read the PNB Q&A here.
