Award-winning advertising, portrait, lifestyle and visual storyteller photographer Jimmy Williams recently shot the new Martin Guitar campaign. Williams shot portraiture of guitarists Dierks Bentley, John Mayer and John Dee Holeman for the campaign. Art Director Denis Aumiller and his team at Spark Agency came up with a concept that would prove meaningful to Martin’s loyal followers. After admiring Williams' ads and personal work for the Music Maker Relief foundation, he was commissioned to creatively interpret concepts and venues that were not only significant in musical history, but highly influential to each specific artist. Aumiller gave Williams great creative freedom leaving each ad autonomous, allowing each concept to dictate the look and feel with photography leading the way. Portraiture includes: Dierks Bentley is shot at Nashville’s celebrated venue The Station Inn; LP at the legendary Ocean Way Recording Studio on Sunset Boulevard; John Mayer at Laurel Canyon where a plethora of iconic musicians from the 60s and 70s (Crosby, Young, Taylor…) made music and where other’s called it home including Morrison, Cass and more and John Dee Holeman at crossroads similar to those storied about in the legend of blues icon Robert Johnson.
