Small Town Parade Exhibits in Saugerties Performing Arts factory

By Barbara Goldman

Small Town Parade  of Saugerties, New York, celebrates the annual July 4th celebration.

Saugerties, New York takes great pride in its annual Fourth of July Parade.  Parades all share many of the same elements but it is the local charm and cast of characters  that make each one unique. Local photographer, Allen Bryan shoots the parade every year, recording his own observations.

Last year he added  something new. Bryan contacted a group of professional photographers, each with ties to the area, inviting them to join him to help record the 2012 Saugerties event. Ten  photographers responded enthusiastically to the idea of a joint project.  All enjoyed the experience and  the camaraderie. Each photographer recorded  very unique and appealing take on a quintessentially American event.  Now, the work can be seen in  a new exhibit Small Town Parade where it originated. The show will be at SPAF (The Saugerties Performing Arts Factory), with an opening reception on Friday July 5th, 6:00- 9:00 PM.  © Art Murphy
