Weekly Contest Winner: Sebastian Gray
June 28, 2013
Sebastian Gray's graphic image Polaroid 600 is this week's winning image for the theme "conceptual photography." Polaroid 600 is part of a series depicting various media as black goo with the look of a 3D rendering, but all elements are actually captured in-camera. Gray explains, "Today's commercial landscape is full of 3D renderings being passed off as photography and I thought it might be interesting to do just the opposite."
Gray is based out of Miami, Florida and shoots product, portrait and location photography, all in a graphic and impactful style. He was recently hired by Alma DDB to shoot various tobacco products in distressed states for Tobacco Free Florida. He says, "My production team and I were tasked with capturing these products being blown to bits in a controlled, repeatable manner. A dream project for me, I was allowed to experiment with a few different approaches, everything from ballistics to pyrotechnics to achieve the desired effect."
