As part of a collaboration commissioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Irina Rozovsky and Manjari Sharma spent half a year trading pictures of their lives.

The exhibition “Talking Pictures: Camera-Phone Conversations Between Artists,” on view at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art through December 17, looks at how smartphones enable the sharing of images. The Museum’s associate curator for photography, Mia Fineman, commissioned 12 pairs of artists to exchange imagery—without text or captions—from November 2016 to April 2017.
