The Platypod Pro is a sturdy base plate for tripod ball heads, letting you place your camera as low to the ground as possible without the risk of it toppling over. The 3×5-inch Platypod is built from aircraft-grade aluminum with a 3/8-inch titanium screw to securely mount tripod ball heads—the company recommends an Arca-type ball head mount with an L-bracket on the camera for maximum stability. In addition to the 3/8-inch screw, there’s also a 1/4-inch screw at the end of the plate for mounting accessories. The bottom of the plate is smooth so you can lay it perfectly flat, but there are also three threaded holes so you can slip in the included spikes to secure the Platypod to uneven surfaces or adjust your camera angle. The spikes come with removable rubberized feet, so you needn’t worry about scratching anything that’s not supposed to be scratched. Four unthreaded holes are also available, so you can even hammer in a few nails and mount the Platypod Pro to a board of wood or a wall for even more mounting options. A Deluxe Kit includes three stainless steel spikes and lock wheels, a 1/4-to-3/4-inch female spigot adapter, a pillowcase sleeve and a wallet case that ingeniously pops open to accommodate a mini tripod head or collapses to stow only the Platypod, its screws and memory cards or small accessories.
