Ricoh’s is updating its tough digicam with a new Outdoor View setting that automatically adjusts the brightness of the 2.7-inch display as ambient lighting conditions change.
Beyond the more responsive display, the new WG-50 is waterproof down to 14m, can survive falls from 1.6m, temperatures as low as -10 degree C and can withstand up to 100kgf of force.
It sports a 28-140mm f/3.5-5.5 integrated lens and a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor (1/2.3-inch) with an ISO range of 125-6400.
The budget-oriented WG-50 can’t record 4K video but does offer full HD video at 30p. It has a rather pokey continuous shooting mode of 1 fps for full resolution images but if you’re willing to live with 5-megapixel shots you can bump the burst mode to 10 fps.
The WG-50 has a built-in macro light around the lens and is capable of focusing on objects as close as .01m away.
Additional features include:
- digital filters
- digital image stabilization
- 9-point AF system
- face detect AF
- 1/4000 sec. mechanical shutter speed
- 300 shot battery life
The WG-50 will retail for $280 and is available for pre-order now.
