DJI has (yet another) Phantom model in its flying camera fleet: the Phantom 4 Advanced.

The new P4 Advanced features a 1-inch, 20-megapixel CMOS sensor capable of 4K video recording at up to 60p with a bitrate of 100Mbps.

Like the Phantom 4 Pro, the P4 Advanced can record in both H.264 and the newer, more efficient H.265. It also offers many of the same autonomous flight modes as the P4 Pro, such as Draw, ActiveTrack, TapFly, Gesture and Tripod modes. There are five vision sensors, a forward facing obstacle avoidance system and GPS/GLONASS satellite positioning chips. However, it lacks the P4 Pro’s infrared vision system and the backward facing obstacle avoidance sensors.

Additional features of the P4 Advanced include:

  • 1/2000 sec. mechanical shutter
  • 24mm f/2.8-11 lens (equivalent) with an 84-degree field of view
  • 30 min max flight time
  • 45 MPH max speed in sport mode
  • ISO range of 100-12,800 in still photo mode; 100-6400 in video

A Phantom 4 Advanced+ version will include a remote with a 5.5-inch HD display built into the controller.

The Phantom 4 Advanced will set you back $1,349 while the Advanced+ model will cost $1,649. They’ll be available at the end of April. At that point, you won’t be able to buy the original Phantom 4 but DJI says after sales support will continue for that device.
