Sigma Adds Three Fast Primes to Cinema Lens Lineup, Preps ARRI Mount

Sigma is releasing three new full frame cinema lenses by the end of this year and early next.

The 28mm T1.5 FF, 40mm T1.5 FF and 105mm T1.5 FF models can resolve 8K video and will be sold in Sony E, Canon EF and PL mounts.

All of the prime lenses feature nine rounded aperture blades and an aperture range of T1.5-16. The 28mm is capable of focusing on objects as close as 1-foot. The 40mm can focus up to 1-foot, 4 inches while the 105mm can focus on objects as close as 3-feet, 4 inches.

Both the 40mm and 105mm lenses are expected to ship in October while the 28mm is coming in early 2019. Pricing was not announced.

Sigma is also developing LPL mount versions of its lenses to fit the new large format ARRI sensor. LPL mount lenses won’t be available until 2019 or later, the company said.
