Tamron is updating its 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, giving it greater computational punch.
The new SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 (Model A032) features new dual Micro Processing Units, which Tamron says improves AF speed and accuracy while also delivering up to five stops of image stabilization.
The new full frame lens can focus on objects as close as 15 inches with a magnification ratio of 1:5. There are nine aperture blades that stop down to f/22.
Additional features include:
- eBAND Coating to combat flare and ghosting
- Fluorine coating on the front lens element
- locking lens hood to prevent it from accidentally popping off
- moisture-resistant build
- compatibility with optional TAP-in Console
The Nikon mount version of the lens will be available in August with the Canon mount following in September. Both will retail for $1,199.
