Built for users bouncing between still and video work, the L-308X-U offers dedicated modes you can change to suit the work you’re doing. In Photo mode, the light meter offers measurement data for flash and ambient light readings. In addition to Shutter Priority Mode, there’s a new Aperture Priority Mode to help calculate depth-of-field. HD Cine Mode provides filmmakers using DSLRs and mirrorless cameras the ability to use shutter speeds and frame rates to get exposure readings that are accurate to within 1/10th of a stop. Finally, Cine Mode delivers readings in lux or foot candles with a similar 1/10th stop accuracy.
The L-308X supports taking measurements at ISO 850 to better match the native ISOs of pro cinema cameras. The meter can measure ambient light from 0 to 19.9 EV, flash output from f/1.0 to f/90.9, and illuminance (with an optional accessory) from 2.50 to 190,000 lux or 0.23 to 17,000 foot candles. By sliding the Lumisphere to the side to reveal its 40-degree lens, the L-308X-U is also able to measure reflected ambient or flash light. An included Lumidisc helps you measure flat subjects and lighting contrast.
