How I Got That Shot: Creating Theatrical Lighting for a Dramatic Portrait

In his portrait of Dede Flemming, cofounder of Lightning in a Bottle, a music and culture festival, Hursey wanted to light the bottle so that the lighting bolt appears to cast a subtle glow. He chose to light his main subject with a single light source that mimicked the effect of stage lighting.
