Yes, it’s happened to all of us. In the heat of the moment, you’ve reached into your camera bag to make a quick change on the fly and you’ve grabbed the wrong lens. Sounds like a small thing but pick the wrong piece of glass at the wrong time and it could mean the difference between getting that crucial shot and missing it.

Well, the folks at BlackRapid have come up with a good solution for that: the LensBling cap system, which features easy-to-see graphics and labels giving you the focal length of the lens on the rear lens cap.

You may know the Seattle-based BlackRapid from the company’s popular, side-swinging camera sling strap. Its LensBling cap system is another smart answer to a common problem for photographers.

The caps come in a variety of focal lengths including 24mm, 24-70mm, 50mm, 85mm and 70-200mm for Canon users; and 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 70-200mm and 105mm for Nikon shooters. Other focal length caps are in the works and will come out later this year, according to BlackRapid.

At $8.50 each, the LensBling caps are not a huge investment. Sure beats using a piece of tape and a magic marker.
