This Object of Desire is our favorite studio workhorse right now: the Canon PIXMA MG5320 Wireless Photo All-In-One.

It’s not the most expensive all-in-one in Canon’s PIXMA lineup, nor does it have the most bells and whistles, but for just $150 it gets the job done. The MG5320 is a great little text and photo printer, scanner and copier with built-in WiFi to help you cut some of the cords.

Though it probably won’t be the printer you rely on for premium prints, the five individual inks in the MG5320 produce very nice 4×6-inch photos that are great for proofing. Print times are fast for a model in this class, at around 20 seconds per photo. The MG5320 uses Canon’s ChromaLife 100 ink system with a maximum 9600 x 2400 dpi, so the photos look snazzy and will last a long time without fading. (Who knows, maybe you can sell a few of them or use for personal promotion?)

It’s a speedy black-and-white printer as well and is great for cranking out documents and forms. Printing options include Auto Duplex (both sides) printing to help you save on paper and a two-way paper feed to speed the printing process.

Navigating through the various settings is easy using the MG5320’s 3-inch, color flip-up LCD screen. For a practical minded all-in-one device, this sleek black PIXMA will be a stylish but unobtrusive addition to your studio or office.

Cost: $150
