If you like your tough cameras to look, well, tough, then you’ll probably dig the camouflage version of Nikon’s Coolpix AW120 rugged compact. While it’s also available in orange, blue and black, we think camo’s the way to go with this waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof pocket camera, which also comes equipped with GPS technology, mapping capability and an electronic compass. Though image quality from the 16-megapixel AW120 won’t be on par with your digital SLR, this sturdy snapshooter is small and light enough to take with you on any photo adventure. The AW120 has a 5x optical zoom beginning at 24mm equivalent at the wide end, and Hybrid VR to help keep shots steady. A maximum f/2.8 aperture isn’t bad for a camera this small, while its 6.9 frames-per-second burst mode will help you snare shots of fast-moving wildlife. The Action Control function lets you shoot and change settings even with gloves on. If you want to nab some radical point-of-view HD footage, the AW120 can be mounted to a chest harness for a unique perspective.
