If your photography takes you into demanding environments, or if you’re just spectacularly clumsy, Delkin Devices’ new line of durable Black SD cards may be worth a look.
The new cards are waterproof, dust proof and capable of enduring extreme temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees C. Rather than build the cards using traditional surface mounted components and a welded case design, Delkin used a proprietary injecting molding process that they claim makes the cards “virtually unbreakable.”
To bolster their durability promise, the Black SD cards will be backed by a 48 hour “no questions asked” replacement guarantee. If your card becomes damaged or unusable, Delkin will replace it within 48 hours and send you a pre-paid shipping envelope to return the original SD card.
The Black SD cards are rated UHS-1 Speed Class 3 and will offer read speeds of 99MB/s and write speeds of 80MB/s. They’ll be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities and sold only in brick-and-mortar camera dealers in the U.S. and Europe. Prices were not announced.
