How to Shoot Cinematic Time Lapses

Time-lapse photography has gotten considerably easier thanks to dedicated modes in digital cameras. But to create truly cinematic time-lapse videos, you’ve got to leave those modes behind and do a bit more of the work yourself.

In this video, produced for PDN by David Patino, photographer Neil van Niekerk shares some tips on how he creates his time lapse sequences, including the proper camera settings, how many frames you need for a given clip duration and how to best position and move your camera for cinematic motion.
